Hello, hello, hello!
Wow, it seems like such a long time since we've chatted...and I've missed sharing my little posts with all of you!
The summer has flown by for sure! After a pretty intense year of creating, I decided to take off the month of July to just recharge...no project creating, just refilling the creative brain by catching up on some reading (enjoyed some great books by an author new to me), scouring home decor boards on Pinterest, doing a bit of (very) early morning gardening, cooking, and actually teaching myself how to relax again. :) By August, though, I was raring to go...I guess I don't do relaxing all that well, or maybe better said, creating is my relaxation!!!!!
This coming Saturday, I am hosting and teaching a workshop at my home and instead of the typical fall theme I usually do this time of year, I decided to do an "end of summer" theme and project. As crafters, we tend to create ahead of holidays and special events...like Christmas in July, Valentine books in December...a bafflement to those who don't create, right? Well, this time, I created a project that would be great to summarize a summer and from what I've seen on Facebook posts, it's really been a sensational summer for many of you. What better way to display the good times than to print out those phone pics and get them into a happy, colorful handmade book?
The workshop is sold out but I've made just a few extra kits...and today, those kits are being offered for you to pre-order. I'll be shipping out those kits sometime during the week of September 26th to allow for time to stamp images, beef up the instructions a bit and package kits for shipping.
The book is a repurposed hardback book...it's got a very dimensional, highly detailed cover and the most adorable thimble tassel which is so beautifully displayed against the spine of the book. The inside of the book features sturdy watercolor paper, cardstock and vintage onion skin paper. In addition to the book structure, the cover and the tassel, I have also kitted nine super layered and detailed interior pages...plus, there are additional pages for you to add your photos and special papers, fabrics and embellishments from your personal stashes...of which you have many, I'm sure!!!!!
This is a bright, happy and somewhat whimsical book...a perfectly generic book to celebrate some summer highlights...maybe a special backyard dinner with friends or a luncheon, soiree or tea party with girlfriends, special blossoms from your backyard, or maybe those priceless pictures of children or grandchildren enjoying the summer sunshine. Consider the possibility of using it as a tribute book or celebration of life of a loved one who lived a full, rich and happy life...a wonderful book for that too!
In the spirit of summer, the book is designed in shades of aqua and turquoise with little splashes of red here and there...you'll find blossoms, birds and butterflies...and even a random tea cup or two!!!!! As I said...whimsical!
Because these kits are workshop kits, there are some techniques for which I provide materials in class and they are not part of the kit. To complete this project, you'll need some craft paints, a stencil of your choice (harlequin used in the sample) and some texture paste or lightweight plaster, as well as some drawing chalks in shades of aqua and turquoise. Most of you who have been around this industry for a while will probably find what you need in your stashes...or...darn...maybe you need to head out to your LSS or craft store for an item or two. Such a hardship. Grin.
These limited edition kits are available for pre-order today for just $120, plus shipping (within the US) (sales tax included in shipping for AZ residents)...and once they are gone, they are really gone. Shipping will happen sometime during the week of September 26th. To pre-order, simply click on the Buy Now button below and Paypal will walk you through the steps.
So, here's to a sensational summer...you've lived it...now record it!
As always, thanks for reading, for your orders and your referrals to friends and family.
From my studio to yours,
SOLD OUT! THANK YOU!!!!!
