About this time every year, I start focusing on all of the shes in my life. I'm guessing that Mother's Day right around the corner in May might have something to do with it or maybe it's because I have so many wonderful shes that I have come to know through the amazing world of Memory Art!
For this month's creatologie kit, I decided to share this focus on "SHE" with you. Creating this book has been a pure joy. My daughter says that it's a "quintessential Carol Wingert project" and I would have to agree!
This book is shabby to the max with traces of vintage on every page. It starts with a 10 x 11 1/2" chipboard binder that is shabby painted and layered with all sorts of papers and elements, including tea dyed vintage tablecloth fabic and an organza flower. And, if you don't want to use the image featured in my cover, no worries. Simply replace it with a 5x7" photo of a special SHE in your life.
I chose to create my book around several important females in my life and you can choose to do that or to focus on one very special SHE in your life. Each page is given an appropriate "she" title...and while you are free to use the ones I am using, it's sure fun to create your very own lines for that very special she. I'll even provide blank paper for you to computer generate and print your own journaling and titles. Consider featuring friends, sisters, daughters, granddaughters or grandmothers...so very many possibilities! There are six interior pages (double sided, plus inside covers for a total of 14 individual surfaces), with the flexibility to add more if you wish. The interior pages are heavily layered and very dimensional, which works so well in a binder style book.

Then, there's a rip and tear collage page with patterned papers and stamped images that I will provide. And how about a little art quilt that you can either machine or hand stitch?
I adore using chipboard in my projects and I'll show you a really cool way to create layered chip pieces of art.
Get your paintbrushes and ink ready...this project will definitely get your fingers stained...you will most certainly have the hands of an artist while creating this fabulous project.

Kits will begin shipping out on May 1st.
Over the past couple of years, I've gotten so many emails from those of you who have ordered on a regular basis. You tell me that you love the idea of this "classroom delivered to your door". You love the fact that you can read the supply list on the first page of the instructions and know in advance what you will need to complete the project. You love that it's so easy to pack one of these kits and the supplies to go to a crop. And, you love the detailed step by step instructions with the color photos provided with each kit. And, you know what, I love that I can share my ideas with so many of you through this format!
You won't want to miss out on this book so be sure to get your kit pre-ordered today! Kits will begin shipping on May 1st.
Also, I will be teaching this project at Scrapbooks, Etc. on April 29th from 5:00-8:30 and on April 30th from 10:30-2:00. Just give the store a call at 480-854-2303. If you are coming to the class and would like to machine stitch your little art quilt, please feel free to bring your machine. If you don't have one, the store does have several to rent for a very nominal fee.
I wish that you could see the effect of the layers and the dimensions of this book...as you know, seeing photos of projects just isn't the same as seeing the pages in person. I just know that you will be tickled with the ideas and the creation of your personal book.
As always, thanks for reading, for your orders, and for your referrals to friends and family.
From my studio to yours,
P.S. Any guesses about what the theme for May might be????? :))

I'm betting the theme for May is "HE"...just in time for Father's Day (and the other half of the La Romantique collection!)
