The year was 1976. It was the 4th of July, the day of the American Bicentennial. But, instead of standing in a park in Philadelphia, the city of my birth and residence, I was celebrating this great day with a group of college friends in the city of Paris.
The French government had invited any Americans who were in Paris on that special day to a celebration in one of the parks. There were serving us hot dogs, potato chips and Coke, All-American foods and drinks, for sure. I can remember standing there with my friends and watching night fall upon the city. There were lights lining the streets and pavements everywhere, the Eiffel Tower had been lit up, lanterns cast their golden beams on the river and fireworks were exploding in the sky. I will never forget the sight of the city that night, just glowing like it had been lit by candlelight. This was Paris, The City of Light!
This month, the featured creatologie book project is themed Parisian Nights. The color scheme is black and ivory/white. From cover to cover, the book is beautifully textured and casually elegant. There are French images, some stamped and others from my personal collection. Teresa Collins black and white papers and Bazzill glazed and embossed papers join fabulous dotted, paisley and Eiffel Tower fabrics. New Bazzill bling and rhinestone buttons lend a level of sophistication, perfect for a night out on the town. Adding distress inks will give the book a vintage look; keeping the papers as they are will give it a clean and elegant look. There are toile and ruffled ribbons, sheer black and sequined trims, and pieces of vintage lace to decorate your pages.
This book is built from scratch and is a landscape profiled 11” x 8 1/2”, with pages large enough to hold your images, stories and embellishments.
If you don’t want to have a Paris theme to your book, consider using it for a travel journal or possibly a journal of things you love in black and white or black and ivory. This is one of my very favorite color palettes and many of you have expressed that you love it too; it’s one of those timeless classics, isn’t it?
