And, it will explode your life with spring colors!
Spring!I’m guessing that many of you just can’t wait for it to come this year as you are totally surrounded by snow, ice and frigid temps.I love Spring—the colors, the coming alive of plants and animals who hibernated through the winter, little seedlings pushing their way up through the damp earth, the bright blue sky, the bit of nip in the breeze, Spring cleaning (well, maybe don’t love that one so much J), airing out the house—are you seeing and feeling Spring with me?
In many parts of the country, Spring can be a little tenuous and sometimes it’s here and gone in the blink of an eye.I thought it’d be fun to give you a bit of this season that you can enjoy and truly savor for a long time.
Enter “Nuances de Printemps”, or “shades of spring” in French. This book, third in the series of The Heirloom Collection, is handmade and beautifully appointed with colors and flowers of this wonderful season.
I have to tell you that this is probably one of the prettiest books I’ve ever created. Some of the pages are amazingly detailed with bits of lace, tiny flowers, ribbons and leaves.A couple of the pages give you a starting point with room for your ideas and creativity to blossom. There are vintage flowers and leaves, pieces of old lace, and rich fabrics included throughout the book.
You will create several different types of fabric flowers, the art of which may be transferred to home décor projects as well as clothing. In addition to the handmade flowers, you will create a pewter charm, you will make a book by hand, and you will design an amazing smocked fabric page that will just tickle your soul because it’s so easy. Most of the pages are layered without sewing, although you can choose to do some machine stitching if you wish. And, of course, your kit will come with step by step instructions and color photos of each of the pages as well as some of the steps.
If you are looking for a quick and easy project to put together in a flash, I need to tell you that this kit is probably not for you. This project is intricate and meant to be savored in the process and it will take some time to put together, and finish off with your photos and journaling.Taking time and savoring the creative process can be such a good thing—it allows for inspiration and spontaneity to take root and start blooming, something that doesn’t often happen when we rush through a project.
Many of you asked me to create a similar book to the very first Heirloom Collection canvas book that I released last year.I wanted you to know that the structure of this kit is identical to that very vintage, autumn looking book—but that’s where the similarity ends. The interior flavor is so very different with an emphasis on a soft and shabby look.I’ve been collecting old lace for quite some time and I’ll be sharing those pieces in this kit, along with some lace and trims made in Europe. In the past week, I’ve spent time cutting lace, trims and ribbons for this kit and here’s what I discovered. You will definitely have more than you will use in this book—that’s an extra bonus for sure!
I wanted you to have a peek inside the book, so, with the help of my daughter Ashley, created a little video for you.
On February 24th, at approximately 6:00 PM Arizona Time (Mountain Standard), I will be posting this limited edition project for sale.
Because this is the project that I’ll be teaching at my home on March 6th, the numbers for purchase online will be very limited.
This limited edition kit is available for $187.00, and shipping within the United States is $12, for a total of $199.00.Just having been in a nursery to buy my spring posies and potting soil, I have to say that this is a great price to bring a Spring you can savor for a long time into your home! J
OK, for you techno geeks, get your devices programmed for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6:00 p.m.If technology isn’t your thing, last time I checked, Post-It notes still do the trick!

I’m excited to share this third book with you and can’t wait until I get to teach the project and ship out your kits.Online kits will begin shipping out on March 13th. Maybe you will start seeing “Nuances de Printemps” by then—hopefully, right?
As always, thanks for your orders and your referrals to family and friends.
The buzz about the new Alice in Wonderland movie began in the entertainment world several months ago.I became a part of the buzz when I went to New York City in early December and saw the fabulous Bergdorf windows.I have to tell you that it’s been a while since I was so visually inspired!
I’m not a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland (the story) but what impressed me about the windows was each designer’s interpretation of the characters and the story line. The variety, the detail and the whimsy awakened my creativity and I realized that it wasn’t about the story at all but about the artistic interpretation and the display.
Right then and there, I decided to create a book featuring windows.I wanted the book to capture the wonder in each of our personal lives and I wanted it to have a whimsical flavor.
Enter “Windows of Wonder”, the new creatologie kit for February.
There are a variety of windows in this book, starting with the three dimensional, funky window on the book cover. There are lots of layered embellishments in this display—I know that you’ll enjoy putting them together!Along with the windows is the sense of whimsy which permeates the book—the bright and happy colors, the unique stitched inclusions and some of the funelements included to spice up the interior pages. While this is not an Alice book, you will recognize some of the elements from the story—like keys, clocks, hearts and teacups.
The purpose of the book is for you to record your personal wonderland—those pictures that have an element of wonder, or maybe an element of whimsy.I combined both into my book—it’s definitely your choice.
The book is one that you will create from scratch. You’ll need a hardback book to repurpose—I would recommend one that’s approximately 6 1/4” x 9 1/4” (that would be the size of most of the romance novels J).Those books are easy to find in thrift stores, garage sales and library sales—you may even have one or two on your shelf that you no longer want to use.
Along with the somewhat whimsical papers from 7 gypsies, there are fun Basic Grey elements and brand new, just released products from Bazzill featured in this project. Did I mention that there are hot off the textile press fabrics from Amy Butler as well—oh so soft and gorgeously bright flannel? There are also stamped images, as well as the photo featured on my cover (a flower from my backyard) included in your kit.I will also provide instructions to create the funky peek thrus, layered window displays and unique ways to create the impression of a window. Check out the detail collage--it’s a book guaranteed to make you smile as you fill the more than 30 interior pages!
The kit is available for pre-order right now and will begin shipping on February 27th.The pre-order price for this loaded book kit is just $49.Shipping within the US is an additional $9, shipping to Canada is $14 and shipping to all other international locations is $20.
To place your order, simply head over to the PayPal storefront on the left sidebar.Look for the box that says where the kit will be shipped and click.PayPal will walk you through the process and will notify me of your order.Your kit will be reserved and kits will begin shipping on February 27th.
While you’re waiting for your kit, pick up your hardback book and start looking for those fabulous photos—the wonderful and the whimsical ones in your collection! When your kit arrives, you’ll be all set to create your “Windows of Wonder”.All I can say is “Disney, step aside!Wait until you see the amazing pages of wonder and whimsy from the creatologie girlfriends!” J
Quantities are limited so get your pre-order in right away.I can’t wait for you to get your kits and start putting them together! And, I can't wait to see what you do with your wonderful, whimsical, shabby hand made book!
By the way, the stitching you see in the photos is totally optional. You can completely construct this book without any machine stitching...there are a few hand stitches you may want to do for a cool effect.
I will be teaching this class at Scrapbooks, Etc. on Thursday evening, February 25th at 5:00 and Friday morning, February 26th at 10:30 a.m. Give the store a call at 480-854-2303 to reserve your spot! See you then.
As always, thanks for your orders and your referrals to friends and family!
From my studio to yours,
P.S.There are just a few remaining house book kits from January. These kits will be shipped with black enameled tins instead of the galvanized metal shown on my sample. So, if you didn’t order because the tin was a tad too “rustic”, here’s your chance for a cover with a slightly different flavor!
