"The world is, in spite of the shadows, a brilliantly bright shining place." -Jedidiah Jenkins
Spending time in my studio, coming up with new inspirations and creations, and then sharing them with you definitely makes my world a brighter and shinier place!
I'm so excited to share with you six new projects...each of them hand created...lovingly, painstakingly and with a lot of joy. It's always a thrill to post these projects and to share them with you but, truth be told, there's just a little part of my heart that says "Oh, I want to keep that one"...and it's usually after each one I put together! Smile. But, if I kept everything I created, we'd definitely not have a place to sit, sleep, cook or (yikes) eat! Those of you who have been to my home can attest to the fact that we are filled to the brim with accessories, creations and all sorts of interesting goodies...which means if I create, I share!
Today, I've got five brand new "I Start, You Finish" journals and one amazing sample I put together for a Workshop to Go.
If you're new to the site, here's what I mean by an "I Start, You Finish" journal. I put together an album (in most cases), or start with a cool, pre-made one. The hand made ones usually entail hand stitching, or creating a fabric binder or album as well as blank, sturdy pages on which you add your creations, photos and stories. I start with a theme and a color scheme and go about creating a cover. This, my friends, is my very favorite part of it all. I absolutely LOVE book covers...and I really do pour my heart and soul into each one that I put together. In fact, after I completed this set of journals, it dawned on me that each one of them is a beautiful display piece, on its own...simply add an easel and your studio, entry table or display case will have another uniquely wonderful piece of art. OK, that was definitely a rabbit trail...can you tell I'm excited about this offering! But, back to the journal...
I usually do something fun with the spine of the book and often add some fun trim or fringe to hang out the side of the journal. Each journal is unique and even if I wanted to, I couldn't repeat it because many of the elements are one of a kind pieces from my collections. So, you start with an original piece of art, a theme and a color scheme. Then comes the finish...with elements from your collections, with your photos and with your stories. Fun, right?
And, here's what so exciting about these journals...not only are they beautiful as a decorative accent, they are totally useful. The interior pages are sturdy and large enough for you to add your favorite products. And, if this isn't a good time for you to create, simply use the project decoratively as a display...for now...and then create when the time is right...later.
OK, here's what I have today...and, by the way, the titles I gave these journals are really just descriptions...you can give them your very own names, if you want :).
I really wish you could see this one in person. Photography just cannot capture the layers, textures and dimensionality of this cover. Besides the many shades of white, you will find a variety of textures and materials which make this such an interesting journal.
There are a couple of vintage lace pieces, a metal snowflake "tree", crystals, diamante crystals, small shabby roses, and a metal plate for the title. The background of the cover is textured with snowflakes, fibers and other cool materials to give it a wonderful chalky finish. And, the unique textured metal snowflakes are finished off with vintage clear glass glitter...absolutely glorious! You simply cannot not touch this one...guaranteed! And, if you want to change the title, just slip off the "winter" flashcard and insert your title under the magnet.
The journal is a repurposed hardback book, approximately 6 1/4 x 9 1/4" with 26 interior surfaces on which you can create. The interior pages are a combo of sturdy watercolor paper and heavy cardstock. The spine and back cover are wonderfully textured to coordinate with the front cover.
Winter photographs with snow are absolutely beautiful and this journal would be perfect for showcasing some of that beauty. If you live in snow country, or are planning a trip or two to visit the snow, you will absolutely love using this journal to display your pictures and tell your stories.
This one of a kind journal is available for just $87 (a great value for an original piece of art, right?), plus shipping (within the US, sales tax for AZ residents included in shipping). To place your order, click on the Buy Now button below and Winter Wonderland will be coming to your studio.
