YES. IT. IS.
For those of you who have followed my blog or subscribed to emails for a while, you know how rare it is for me to post workshop openings. Typically, the spots are taken by alumni of previous workshops and the friends they sometimes bring with them. Over the years, I've gotten emails from some of you asking if there is any way you can get into the workshop rotation.
I'm happy to tell you that there are a few last minute openings for my June 17th in-home creatologie workshop.
I'm so excited about the project that we'll be putting together. I've called it "...in the city" and it features some of the Tim Holtz cityscape line as well as several of his Eclectic Elements postage fabrics. The structure is a paper/shopping bag hand made book with two paper bag mini books inside, making this book an awesome journal for lots of pictures and stories.
You might be thinking, "Paper bag books are ancient history...they've been around for a while." Definitely true...in fact, I would arguably say that I had two of the first paper bag books adapted to the memory art/scrapping industry published (shopping bag book in 7 gypsies in Paris and paper bag travel journal in Design Originals, both in 2004). But, lest you think I'm being repetitive, I wanted to let you know that what we'll be creating is a new spin on the original paper bag books that I put together...always fun, right?
As far as the theme, "... in the city", there are so many cool words you can use in place of the three dots...live, discover, explore, dine, shop, stay, play, lunch, life, etc. So, the project ends up being a pretty generic journal...travel, day in the city, living in the city, etc. I'm really excited about the blend of materials we'll be using and I'll even be teaching how to easily create your very own chalk paint.
If you love to travel and visit various cities, this book is perfect to showcase your special times...either a focus on one city or some of your very favorite cities. It could be that you live in the city...the journal is a splendid way to document some of your daily life. As an aside here, a couple of weeks ago, I was on a flight home from teaching in the Dallas area and a young guy sitting in my row traveling to Phoenix on business asked me what there was to do in the city. Much to my surprise, I actually had to think about that a little. Sometimes when you've lived somewhere for a long time, you just take for granted all of the wonderful benefits of your location. It's a great exercise to think about the wonderful places, spaces and activities your own city offers...and then document them in your own funky and fun hand made journal.
OK, here are some of the details. The workshop is an in-home creative workshop which goes from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30'ish. (I'm in the Phoenix Metro area and for those who sign up, you will be provided with my address and contact info.) In addition to our creative activities...creating a book, stamping, painting, etc...there is an amazing group of friendly and creative artists...and there's a ton of food! My daughter, Ashley, is a fantastic cook and, from the time you enter my home, you will be fed with awesome, made-from-scratch goodness, including a light breakfast, mid morning snack, dinner style lunch and afternoon dessert. Drinks are available all day. Sounds like an awesome experience, right?
The other day, I was getting my hair done and was thinking about how much we love good experiences. I have an acquaintance who, years ago, was spending two hundred dollars on a hair cut and style. Was it because the cut was so superb? Well, maybe better than some, but mostly it was because it was such a great experience. Think of the dinners in exclusive restaurants you have so enjoyed, the reserve wines you bought and opened at a special occasion, the amazing seats you bought for a theater production or concert, or the many other experiences you have indulged in. For many, it really isn't about the cost...it is about a unique experience that you can't find somewhere else.
An in-home creatologie workshop is one of those experiences...and unlike a class in a store, you get to be a pampered guest in my home for the day! And, unlike many activities that are here today and gone tomorrow, you will have an awesome, creative project that will thrill you for many years to come.
This workshop experience is available for just $168...truly a great value for a fantastic day.
I usually schedule workshops around a cool activity or event that those of you coming from out of state would appreciate and enjoy. The workshop weekend is also the weekend of Sweet Salvage, a four day event held in Phoenix. If you click on the link, you'll find all of the info you need. Also, for those who sign up for the workshop, I can make some suggestions for local hotels and restaurants. This would be such a fun girls' trip, right?
OK, just a little fine print. As always, if you do need to cancel, there are no refunds, but you will receive your kit and instructions which I'll ship to you at no additional cost.
If a unique, creative and pampering experience is just what you need right now, simply click on the Buy Now button below and you will be part of this fun, upbeat and inspiring workshop group.
As always, thanks for reading, for being part of the creatologie family, and your referrals to friends and family.
See you in June!!!!!
