“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” ~St. Augustine~
Over the past ten or so years (yikes, has it really been that long?!?!), it has been an honor and privilege to meet so many of you, both in person and online through blogging and emails. You come from different stations in life, live in different parts of the world, enjoy different foods, and have different family dynamics and belief systems.
But, it seems like there are a couple of things that you share in common.
One is the absolute need to create and to express yourself through art.
The other is your love of travel.
I’ve met many of you who have traveled to come to large inspirational events (around the world), some of you have traveled quite a distance to come to my home for an event, and a lot of you have attended local events and classes where I’ve been the one to hop on a plane to come to you.
For me personally, travel has opened my eyes to so many things…different cultures and new foods, amazing architecture, fascinating people with interesting stories and backgrounds, great stores and flea markets…the list could just go on and on.
As memory artists, each travel experience we have is like two sides of a coin.
One side is what you experience first hand…packing, getting to your destination, sightseeing, eating at new places, shopping, and maybe even saying words in a different language.
The second side is what I refer to as “replaying the scenes”. Reliving where you’ve been through the pictures, writing the stories, remembering some of the details and putting all of that together in an artistic fashion for your personal enjoyment as well as to share with your friends and family. For some of you, this part is just about as exciting as the trip you took, right?
If that describes you, oh boy, do I have a fabulous Heirloom Collection album to share with you!
Enter, “Bon Voyage”, a hand-created, multi-layered, fabulously textured and oh-so-dimensional piece of book art. It’s unique, richly detailed and the very first Heirloom Collection travel journal…just in time for travel and vacation season!
You are going to love the variety of embellishments and product in this project.
There’s wood and glass, fabric and metal, transparent acrylic and an assortment of papers…all artfully arranged to give you a fabulous and sure to make you grin creative experience.
From the dimensional cover with its ephemera display cubbies, to layered transparent art, to image transfer techniques, to beautiful French trims, to hand stamped images from my collection, each page becomes a mini class of its own.
If you love to feel your pages, you will love this album.
If you like to take your time creating pages that will enhance your experiences, this Heirloom project is definitely for you.
If the vintage/shabby look is what grabs you, this hand made album is right up your alley!
And, if you love pulling out your brushes and ink and getting your hands dirty, these pages will make you giddy.
The album is generously sized (8x12”) and contains 13 very detailed and embellished pages. Many of those pages have pockets, pouches or mini books on them…which gives you a LOT of surfaces to hold your pictures and stories.
I really could go on about this project…but I’ll just let you see for yourself. Ashley put this video together for me...and it's a great way for you to see exactly what you will be creating.
I hope you enjoyed watching the video...can you tell that I'm really excited about this project???? :)
