Saturday was everything I hoped it would be, and more!
The process of converting a warehouse house to an event house is definitely not for the faint of heart, and after shipping out creatologie kits last weekend, there were Heirloom kits to put together, as well as the set up, the clean up of all of the flotsam and jetsam that remains after kits are put together, plus all of the cooking for doing the event. A huge thanks to Vern and Ashley...I couldn't have done it without them! I totally appreciate the hours they put into making it all come together.
So, Saturday morning, 15 women converged on my home and the fun began. The women came from Virginia, California, New Mexico and the Phoenix metro area. They were an awesome group!
Fortunately, the weather cooperated (even though we started with a pretty overcast sky, it cleared up...phew). So thanks to all for your prayers, well wishes, and hopes that the garden fairies would make it all good...we were grateful for all of the good thoughts that came our way. We were able to set 4 tables on the patio and this is what they saw when they came out on the patio.
I wish we had a video of the ladies opening their metal lunch boxes...there were lots of oooohhhs and aaaaahhhhs, giddy laughter, gasps. Some of the women thought that the lunch boxes were just for "show" and others thought that they were for storing extra kit things...but, in reality, the lunch boxes were filled with additional kit goodies. There were hundreds of parts and pieces to put together and seeing the reaction to the packaging done for the event made each and every hour I put into it totally worth it.
Ashley outdid herself with the baked goods she created for both the morning and the afternoon dessert. She took care of presenting the food and making sure that everyone had what they needed for drinks, food and snacks. She did a fabulous job.
The pace for the day was relaxed, with time to talk, eat, learn and create. I put some of my personal collections in bins on each of the tables and everyone could cut into the appliques and lace pieces that I shared. That was fun!
I taught some fun flower making techniques and it looks like it may have been worth listening to :).
There was a lot of talking and laughter...as well as times of quiet concentration...broken up several times with the passing train and the accompanying howls and yips from the neighbor's little dogs...quite a little show!
Look at those cute Diamond Girls with their embellished aprons!!! Love them!
Here's the whole group around the back end of the fish pond...lots of smiling faces for sure!
I just wanted to say thanks to all who attended...you have made this first event so very special and I can't wait to do some more of these down the road. Be on the lookout for the announcement of the next one...in June, in Virginia! Woo Hoo!
With February being a short month, doing the event and Heirloom kits going out, the March creatologie kit release will be a little late. Look for the project at the end of the week.
Thanks for looking and letting me share this special time with you!
Hugs,
Carol

Looks like a wonderful affair!! I was thinking about you and hoping you would not be rained upon. We've had hail over here!
PS--picked kits up at store, thanks. I couldn't find right size hardback book in time for class. :(

Carol,
Your home looks so inviting! A beautiful day, without rain.
Have been hunting for months for a "lunch box" that size, please share where I can purchase one for my embroidery, for on the go.
Warmly,

Interesting endeavour. You should feature and upload your floral products here. Can't wait to see them.
