SPRING FEVER!
Well, March is here and so is spring fever. It manifests itself differently around our house...the dogs are scampering around despite their advancing ages, the horses...well, they are getting into MORE trouble than usual, Vern and Ashley can't wait to go riding and me, well, I'm into a creating frenzy. Some of it has to do with deadlines and some has to do with lots of energy...and, what better way to use that energy than to do art?
Here's some of what I've been doing.
I was honored to be invited by Wendy to be the March guest designer for Scrap Supply, an awesome online store and community with so many talented designers. The theme assigned to me was to create a home decor item suitable for a child's room using some scrapbook products.
I did this framed piece that I call "moving memories" but actually, a better name would be "magnetic memories". I painted a wood framed magnet board from Provo Craft black and then distressed the edges. The layout is a 12x12 using Jenni Bowlin and Teresa Collins papers...they look so awesome together...it's almost like Jenni and Teresa got together and decided to make coordinating lines of paper! The layout is held in place with two painted wooden rounds. I used the magnet board idea because it's easy to change out your art and keep it updated and fresh in your child's room...and you know that your kids will love seeing pix of themselves and their activities. To see close up details, check out the Scrap Supply newsletter here.
The next project I did is a travel journal that I'll be teaching at My Daughter's Wish in April, Momento Arts in May and Scrapbooks Plus in June. It's a handmade structure with a clipboard cover...how practical is that?
I think you'll enjoy the papers and embellies...plus, it's a lot of fun to put together!
I'm waiting for some new CHA releases to arrive so that I can build additional projects, so keep looking...I'll post them when they're done!
I just finished this one...an easel flip book that I'll be teaching at Paper & Metal Scrappers in Payson, AZ on March 29th and then again at My Daughter's Wish in April. We'll be working with crafter's copper and copper mesh and learning techniques to age, change color, stamp and emboss...definitely a class filled with artsy techniques, plus great 7 gypsies papers and a fabulous structure created by a local artist.
It's been a while since I worked with metal and I have to tell you that this book really made me happy. I love to play with the stuff...hope you will too!
Next on the agenda is my March creatologie project...look for that later this week! Think bright spring colors, think easel structure, think huge rick-rack...think butterflies...and that's all I'm saying for now!
Hope you're having a great weekend...it's back to the workstation for me...the gesso is dry!
