happiness is...

Wedding_day2 ...being married to this awesome guy for 30 years!

Here are just a few things that pop into my head this Monday morning about why I love being married to him:

1.  He's my best friend...non-judgmental, supportive, loyal and honest.

2.  He's a great listener...an active listener, if you know what I mean.

3.  He has selective blindness.  He doesn't see my wrinkles laughlines or the dust elepants bunnies scattered here and there in the house.

4.  Having a passion for horses, he understands the need to live with a passion for something.  He totally supports what I do...encourages me when I need it...gives me feedback on projects...pitches in with the chores when I'm out of town teaching and doesn't complain about it.

5.  He has a natural curiosity and love for research...loves reading and learning new things.

6.  He makes me laugh...just like he did when he smeared cake on my face!  (I did get him back!)

And the list could go on.

I really love him!

This quote by A.A. Milne (of Winnie The Pooh fame) sums it up well:

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you."

Happy Anniversary, Babe!  I LOVE YOU!

here are the signs...

Striped_hair 1.  I have striped hair.

Yep, as of earlier this week, I lost the conservative one toned brown hair in favor of caramel stripes throughout the same brown hair.  My hairdresser and friend, Sydney, tells me it looks sassy.

2.  I drive a big diesel RED truck.

Those of you who are in my BPS color class know all about what that means.  If you're not in the class, you may want to do a search...it's fun to see what the color vehicle you drive says about you.

3.  My formerly conservatively painted master bath is now apple green.

The whole last minute before Ashley's graduation bathroom painting story can be found here.

4.  I gave Ashley the go ahead to paint one wall in her bathroom RED.

She had a blast doing it and it looks great contrasted with three ivory colored walls.  Her bathroom looks much larger and just bright and happy.

So, what do all these signs mean?  Am I going through some sort of mid-life color crises?  Do you have any thoughts to share about my recent need for color?  Has anyone else had the same signs?

Help.

Que sera, sera

Yesterday, as I was driving home from my fun class at Scrapbooks, Etc., the weather guy on the radio was giving the forecast for the evening.  He said that things were looking pretty quiet in the Valley and we should not expect monsoon activity that evening.  The sky was blue and there were some big clouds, but they were in the distance, so I thought that maybe, for once, he might be right about the weather.

Sunsetaug1 Several hours later, we're clearing the table from dinner and I look out the window.  Big fat plops of rain are falling on the patio.  Then comes the wind, the lightening and finally some thunder.  OK, so much for no monsoon activity.

I should know not to put a whole lot of stock in what the weather people say.  We moved to Arizona in June of 1980 and I started my first job out here in a law firm in the beginning of July.  I became fast friends with another Carol and when I expressed my frustration to her about following the weather reports and how the reports were hardly ever right, she just laughed.  Being a pro at living in Arizona, she told me to stop reading the forecasts.  The weather had a mind of its own and here's what you can expect.  There will be dust storms in July and August, sometimes there will be rain and sometimes not,  some years are huge flood years and others are a "dry monsoon", it's guaranteed to be hot in the summer and if you have a "cool" day (which is all relative, I suppose), consider it a gift.  Other than that, just learn to go with the flow.  Good advice.

So, over the years, it's become "que sera, sera"...whatever will be, will be.  And yesterday's que sera was great!  I'm grateful for the rain...I can cross watering my container plants off of today's list since God did it for me!

After the rain, we had a gorgeous sunset.  I ran out onto the wet driveway in my bare feet (that felt so good) and took a couple of quick snaps...too quick since my pix were a little blurry but by the time I figured that out, the color was gone.  The colors were so pretty that I had to post, bad photography and all!

Hope you enjoy the "que sera" in your day today!
